1 Month Old

One month picture...I hoping to take a picture every month in the same spot with the same stuffed animal so we can see how much he grows each month. We'll see if I can keep it up! ;)

The dreaded tummy time!

This is Walker and his new friend Henry sent all the way to him from Texas...thanks Nathan & Lynsi!

Uncle Bryan & Aunt Mellie at Melanie's birthday celebration. This was taken during Walker's first trip to Murray.

Walker is now 1 month old...I can't believe it! This past month has flown by and most of it has been a blur. :) But we wouldn't have it any other way. Walker seems to have gotten so much bigger in the past few weeks...and the proof is in his clothes. He can officially fit into 0-3 month clothing, which had swallowed him when we came home from the hospital. He can still wear his preemie outfits but they are definitely getting shorter and tighter! In the past week he has become much more alert and we have started getting into a eat/wake/sleep routine. (I started babywise last week!). We also started him on a more structured schedule and so far he has done great! He still eats about every 2 1/2 - 3 hours (depending on the time of day) but he will go 4-5 hours at night in between feedings. Which means that mommy only has 1 feeding that's in the middle of the night. He eats his late night feeding at 10:00 and is usually sleeping soundly until we get up at 3 for a feeding, then he's up again at 6 for his first feeding of the day! Mommy especially loves this new schedule! :) We've also started putting him down in his bassinet for naps and at bedtime and he's done great with that too. He has only cried a handful of times and even then he'll usually get himself to sleep. For bedtime we do our bedtime routine and we put him down awake and he goes to sleep on his own. So far so good...however, I probably just jinxed myself! :) We've learned a lot about Walker in the past month...

Likes: his hands, music, being swaddled, his bouncy seat, his pacifier

Dislikes: tummy time & baths

He can now focus in on our face and can track a toy from one side to the other (still inconsistent but he does it occasionally). He can also hold his head up when he's on his tummy but he's still pretty wobbly. I'm sure he'll master the skill before too long. And he will also turn his head toward a noise. He also tries to roll to his side when he's on his tummy or back but he hasn't quite got the move down just yet. However, we have witnessed him roll to his side twice from his back a few weeks ago...and his pediatrician can even vouch for us on that! He's so squirmy!

His acid reflux and colic are still there but he seems to be tolerating them much better than before. We have started going to the chiropractor twice a week and we are still taking meds for both of them. The combination of the two seems to be helping so far! Walker is doing just great and we just love him to pieces. I can't wait to see what this month has in store for us! Stay tuned...

3 Weeks Old

Walker's first bath!
Hanging out outside with his daddy...he loves his daddy!!

Walker @ 3 weeks old

Walker is 3 weeks old and doing just great! We are just spending our days hanging out and enjoying our time together. His tummy issues seem to be better so we're thrilled that he feels better! He is still eating well and sleeping good at night. We made our first trip to Murray this past weekend to see family. Walker got to see all of his aunts and uncles and cousins this weeekend...they all thought he was pretty cute! He also got to see all of his grandparents; we had a wonderful visit in Murray. Walker also had his first real bath yesterday now that his umbillical cord has completely fallen off. He didn't really mind it and didn't start crying until the very end. I think he got mad mommy and daddy were taking so long! Oh and we've postponed the transition to the crib until this coming weekend...mommy & daddy just weren't ready yet. Plus with all his tummy troubles and acid reflux we liked having him closer to us for a little while longer! We'll keep you posted on how the transition goes!
