Happy Thanksgiving

Walker & Uncle Bryan
My little turkey on his first Thanksgiving!

Walker & his "My First Christmas" ornament Sugar got for him.

In front of the Christmas tree at home. He was very interested in it...

and even managed to yank an ornament off the tree.
Oh, I can't wait to see him at all the Christmas festivities this year...what a special and fun time it will be!

7 months old

The "official" 7 month picture. But the outtakes below are pretty cute too...

Here's a closeup of Walker's little "curl"hawk. He has a group of little curls in the middle of his head and they will not lay down. It's the cutest thing ever!!

Walker is now 7 months old and full of FUN!! He weighed a little over 17 lbs. and is just getting so big. He is such a good eater and is now up to the 2nd foods and we're also trying our hand at finger foods and snacks. He is developing such a personality and is such a happy baby. He "talks" all the time now and says "da-da" a lot, whether Jon is around or not. He can give you a high five and will occasionally wave at you. He moves around all over the floor and is attempting to get a knee up under his belly to start crawling. We also have 2 teeth now and I feel like more are on the way because he's been a little more fussy than usual and chewing on everything! We also had our 2nd ear infection and it was a doozy...woke up one night to find Walker had a 104 fever and chills. It was so scary but thankfully it came down before long. We took him to the doctor and his ears were so infected. But he hadn't shown any signs/symptoms...I think he's just a tough little guy. He never cries when he bumps his head (which is kind of frequent these days with all the moving he's doing!). We also had 2 incident reports at daycare in one day because he had scooted around and bumped his head and his cheek into something while playing. He never cried but he did have two little bruises to show for it....you can see the one on his forehead in the pictures above. We are also officially a "sitter." He sits up for extended periods of time on his own and will even get from his bottom to his belly without a major fall. Oh, and the child who used to HATE tummy time always wants to be on his belly now...even when mommy is changing him. I've gotten pretty good at putting a diaper on backwards. He is so strong that we get worn out changing his diaper because he's wiggling around so much.

But my favorite new thing that he does is his kisses. When you pick him up he'll grab your face and put his open mouth on your cheek. It just melts my heart. Oh and he loves to grab your hair and/or earrings now. After he jerked my earrings a few times I've just stopped wearing them for now. This is such a fun age and I just love watching him turn into a little boy and learn new things every day. He's so curious about everything and will grab ahold of anything and everything he can get his hands on. We are going to have to start babyproofing the house SOON! I am so excited about the holidays and can't wait to see Walker at Christmas. He met Santa this past weekend and loved him. But he especially liked pulling on his beard. :) I hope everyone is doing well and that you have a blessed holiday season. Jon and I have SO much to be thankful for this year and are so blessed to have a sweet, healthy little boy in our lives. God has truly blessed us more than we deserve. I'm so thankful each day that He chose me to be Walker's mommy!

6 Months Old

Posted by Picasa
6 month stats: 16 lbs, 3 oz. & 25 1/2 inches tall
It's hard to believe that my sweet baby is now 6 months old. Well actually, since I'm really late with this post he'll be 7 months this week! Life has been so busy lately that we've neglected our blog...my apologies. But hopefully the amount of pictures I'm posting will make up for it. Walker is developing quite a little personality these days...as well as a little temper! He is still such a laidback little boy and is quite content to play on his own or just hang out. But he is also more than happy to let you know if he's ready to do something else or is hungry or tired. And he's "talking" a LOT these days. He's at the age now where I hear him talking to himself in his crib in the morning and it just makes me smile. He sleeps through the night most of the time now and is taking (on a good day) 2 naps of 1.5-2 hours each. He is a good eater and we're still doing 4-5 feedings a day of 6 oz. each and food 3 times a day. He likes carrots, squash (of any kind), sweet potatoes, green beans, sweet peas, apples, bananas, avocado and rice & oat cereal. We're doing more formula than breastmilk now and he's tolerating it well. We're not nursing as much as mommy would like due to an allergic reaction that mommy had with some meds. but I'm pleased to have at least nursed for 6 months so I'm trying not to be too sad about it. Walker can now roll any way he pleases and he does so throughout the night. It won't be long before we'll be babyproofing the house. He sleeps on his tummy more than his back and seems quite comfy. He looks like such a little boy curled up on his tummy or side and he is taking up more and more room in his crib these days! :( He was in the 25% for height and weight at his last doctor's appointment. You'd never have guessed that he was such a small little guy when he was born.
He loves to play with anything he can get his hands on and we have to really watch what is in his reach these days. He's about too big for his bouncy seat and when we put him in it, he rips the toys off the velcro strap now so bouncy seat time doesn't last too long. He can also grab the sides of the bar and pull himself up so most of the time we have to put him in the seat without the toy bar. He is curious about everything and loves to be outside! Just in the last week he's started sitting up on his own for brief periods of time before toppling over. I feel sure it won't be long before we're officially an independent sitter! We're working on his waving and he seems like he's slowly attempting to. He'll raise his hand up and try to move it around...it's the cutest thing. He also started Mother's Day Out this month and seems to really like it. He likes his teacher and always seems happy when Sugar picks him up everyday so that makes for a happy mommy. He seems to change before our eyes from day to day and is slowly losing the baby look and looking more like a little boy. It's so fascinating to see him discover new things and learn to do new "tricks."

Mother's Day Out

Posted by PicasaWalker & his teacher, Ms. Michelle
He loves Mother's Day Out at our church and goes 3 days a week from 9-3. He still stays with Sugar (Janna's mom) on M & F but I think he really likes playing with his friends at school. They play outside a lot and even do art projects.

Look What I Can Do...

I can now put my toes in my mouth!

Like Father, Like Son

Since he was born, Walker has scrunched his toes like this. We kept wondering where he got it from until one night we noticed that his Daddy had his toes scrunched up the exact same way. In fact, as I type this his daddy is sitting with his toes scrunched up in just this same way. It's too cute!! I can't wait to see what other traits he picks up from his daddy. I may have my hands full...

My Favorite Toy

Walker LOVES his exersaucer. He could bounce all day in it. He even eyes it when he's at home if we haven't put him in it yet. He is so happy in this thing, therefore we get the best smiles while he's bouncing away!

5 Months Old

The official 5 month picture.

This month he was much more mobile and it was a little bit of a challenge to get a picture of him sitting still and smiling. Therefore, I've included some outtakes because I think they're so cute!

Our sweet baby boy is now 5 months old. He has developed such a little personality and is so FUN! He weighed 14 lbs. 12 oz. at his last appointment and was such a trooper with his shots. Some of his likes include: his exersaucer, baths, being tickled, being talked to, talking and making loud noises, anything he can put in his mouth, rattles, his bumbo, jumping on anyone's lap, looking around at everything, cereal, bananas, sweet peas, green beans, carrots and apples. So far we haven't found anything he won't eat. He now eats cereal twice a day, has a fruit with breakfast, and veggies for lunch and cereal and a veggie for dinner. We're also down to 4 feedings a day. He is getting so big and seems like a new kid every day. And there's not much he doesn't like. He is SO laidback and easygoing. He sleeps through the night most nights. He's also now able to roll over onto his tummy from his back and from his tummy to his back. Recently he started rolling onto his tummy at night during his sleep but he won't roll back onto his back. And he also proceeds to get his arm and/or leg stuck in between the slats in his crib. He's scared us a few times when we look at the monitor and can't see him becuase he's flipped onto his tummy. One night mommy tried to roll him back on his back and before I could make it to the door he had flipped back onto his tummy again. This is, of course, stressing mommy and daddy out!! But thank goodness for the Angel Care movement monitor...it's been a huge relief for us! I highly recommend it for any new parent. Walker now smiles and laughs all the time and can grab at all his toys and wiggle himself around to reach toys that are out of his reach. He's quite mobile for a kid that can't crawl!! He can also sit with some support and has even sat for a few moments by himself before he slowly topples over. He is such a joy to be around and we can't wait to see what he does next. I thank God for all the milestones he's reaching!!

New Tricks

My mommy went to get me one morning and I had completely turned in my crib. My feet were where my head should have been! I'm pretty sneaky like that...mommy finds me that way every morning!

I finally learned to roll over on one side. I did it for the first time on 8/3/10. I like it so much that I sleep like this now.

I can now grab and pull at my toys.
